Ok, I admit it, it's been way to long and the promised blog-back-to-normal didn't happen either. Lots of things have happened, so let me give you a quick summary. After getting back from Bristol and DC, I was insanely busy over the fall preparing for my candidacy exam. I passed though - yay! Immediately after I took it I flew to San Fran for AGU, for some work and some fun. I even managed to meet up with my lovely cousin Jara, who was volunteering out of California at the time. Christmas and NYE was spent at home with the family and all my girls, of course :) Hickey came over a few days before NYE, and we went on a mini trip to Edinburgh in early January.
I got back to Vancouver all ready to get some work done when my beloved Omi passed away. I didn't manage to go home for the funeral, but her grave is in the forest super close to my parents house so now I can just walk over and pay lots of visits when I'm visiting home.
This year has been full of work, visitors, and travels so far. I spent a month at Hickey's in Bristol, I went to Jess & Ben's wedding in England, Lisa & Peter's wedding in Germany, did some conferencing in Alaska, an outreach trip to Calgary, and I'm off to Mexico for some work plus vacation tomorrow. Jara visited Felix and me earlier in the year, so did Reka, and of course Aiko-san. I probably forgot lots of important things, but that's it for now. I promise to upload photos from various trips right now, and hopefully I'll have some cool new ones when I get back from Mexico. Hasta luego!
